Laying carpet

There are many different materials you can use for dollhouse carpet: 'real' carpet remnants, funky placemats, towels, pieces of vinyl, multicolor felt squares, printed and laminated tiles, and so on. Be creative!

First carefully measure the room's length and width, and mark the back of the carpet or fabric. Cut the carpet to size with a utility knife, and check if it fits correctly.
Now lift one edge of the carpet and fold it back on itself, exposing half of the floor. This is where you start applying the glue.

You can use carpet glue or a strong contact glue. Use a sturdy brush or an application trowel to apply the glue to the floor. Set the folded section of carpet back on the floor, and press it down firmly.
Fold back the other section of carpet, apply the glue to the other half of the floor and lay the carpet back into it. Press it down firmly.

Finally, weigh down the carpet with some heavy, flat objects so it sits well into the glue as it dries. Leave it to dry for a few hours.
