Great website, love the tutorials!!! I am wondering if doing the boiling water perm will get rid of the little frizzy ends on my new Aubrey, (my first girl). Should I shampoo first? Thanks for your help. Ann
Hi Ann! Thanks so much for your sweet compliments, I'm glad you like the tutorials! Sadly I can't help you with the hair treatment, but there's a lot of information at the This Is Blythe forum about how to solve frizzy hair problems. I suggest you take a look over there. Good luck! xoxo, Zozo

Hi again! Im looking in to buying a blythe doll. I was wondering if yours are petite or full size. Petite is more what I can afford but I also want to make a dollhouse. Full size go for 100+ dollars, not in the budget lol. Anyways i was just wondering which you have.
Hi! All my girls are the full size (12 inches). The petites are really tiny (4 inches). Not all the big ones cost over $100 - I'm sure you will find several of them for $70-$80 on eBay as well. But you can also try the Buy & Sell section at the This Is Blythe forum, where mint, but nude or gently played with Blythes definitely will cost a lot less. Good luck finding your girl! xoxo, Zozo

Just to confirm, the hot gluestick method of removing eyechips is compatible for SBL dolls? and replacing eyechips is just as easy? id hate to have to take my girl apart! you've done a great job on your tutorials. thanks!
Hi Carrie, Thanks so much! The gluestick method should work for all eyechips, however some can be more stubborn than others. Stay patient ^^ Don't force anything, and be sure the glue is cooled and firmed up before you pull. xoxo, Zozo

hello, your costomizing tutoral is great, just one question. you are using some transparant glue to put the eyes tight, what kind of glue (velpon ?)
Hi Tea, thanks so much! Yes, I used transparent Velpon to glue the stem of the eyechips back in place. Just a tiny drop on a tooth pick, so you can use this to put a little bit of glue in the stem hole, and a little bit along the rim. I hope this helps! xoxo, Zozo

wow your site is so cute and helpful :) thank you. Im wondering if u have to know much about sewing or japanese to make outfits from the blythe sewing pattern books? I dont know japanese and i'm afraid i might waste my money on those expensive books?
Hi Jess, thanks for your sweet compliments about the site! I'm glad you like it :) I'm not sure about the pattern books: I think it would be helpful if you have at least some basic knowledge of how to read patterns, and how to put garments together. The illustrations are quite clear, though! xoxo Zozo

Love your site! Your dollies! Your clothes! (Do you still sell them?!?) And your custom tips -- very helpful. So... what did you do when the eye chip fell into the head? (Happened to me last night and I am freaking -- my poor girl!) Help!?! Whaaa! Shoshanah - first time Blythe mom
Hi Shoshanah, thanks so much for all the sweet compliments! And don't panic: unscrew the screws in the back of your girls' head, and carefully pry the two halves of the head apart at the neck with a (covered) screwdriver until the gap is big enough to remove the body (it's held by a plug on top of the neck). Keep the gap open with your fingers, and shake the head until the eyechip drops out! Caution: be careful with prying, the edges of the face-plates are easily damaged! At the moment I'm not making any Blythe clothes.. I have a clothing line for resin ball jointed dolls (you can see them at www.zolala.nl). However, at some point I hope to make some Blythe fashion again! xoxo, Zozo

Hi Lydia, thank you! :) I used wall paint and wrapping paper for the walls, and carpet scraps, old towels, placemats and pieces of felt for the floors. I also printed the tiles for the bathroom and kitchen, and laminated them. With a little imagination you can use almost anything :D Good luck with your house! xoxo, Zozo

Hi Stephanie, thanks so much! :) The wooden bunk beds with closets are vintage Barbie beds ('70), and the brown one is handmade. I found them on eBay, and they all came from Germany - they show up every now and then. Good luck finding yours! xoxo, Zozo

Hello there! I must tell you how much I love visiting your site. Yours is in my favorite folder... The site is cool, your girls are cool, and your fashion sense and the house!!!! I am building one this summer. Though, I don't know where I am going to find furnitures for the girls... Can you please share with me where you got the pattern book? I used to be a shoe designer (worked in Italy, Mexico, and US) and a fashion designer before that, but I can't make patterns for my girls' outfit... :(( This fall I am going to find a way to design shoes for the girls... Sorry for the long message... *^^*
Hi Nicole, thank you for all the sweet compliments! ^^
I found most of the miniatures for the dollhouse on eBay, like vintage Barbie furniture or handmade goodies. (Don't forget to check German and British sellers as well! They sometimes sell the cutest vintage furniture for Barbie or Sindy.)
The pattern book is a Licca doll pattern book from Japan, you can find them on eBay as well. They're called 'My Favorite Doll Book Series' for Licca, and there are quite a few released. My personal favorite is no. 11 :)
Good luck with building your house, and with making shoes! It sounds very exciting.. I wish I could make them, too! :) xoxo, Zozo

Hi, I'm interested in making some of these dolls myself. Do I buy the kits somewhere or buy older dolls to customize? And where do they sell the kits to customize them anyhow? I'm slightly confused.
Hi Ekimo, Blythe dolls don't come in kits - they're complete dolls and come in different styles with different hair colors/styles and clothes. Please visit the This Is Blythe forum for tons of information about them, and be sure to check out the Blythe-O-Pedia for all the dolls that are released until now. You can buy them off eBay, online stores or the Buy & Sell section at mentioned forum. Good luck! xoxo, Zozo

Hoi! :) I <3 this is site and your dolls are cute and have a great taste in fashion! Do you make those converse-style shoes or buy them somewhere? Do people look strange when they see you taking pics of your girls in public places? 'Cause I'm planning on buying a Blythe this summer but I'm afraid of what people will think when they see me walking around and taking photos of a doll (I live in Hungary and the people there are extremely shallow and narrow-minded :((( , I'm sure that people in Holland are different...) Sorry for the long post!
Hi Marti, thanks so much for your sweet compliments! :) The converse shoes are from eBay - I wish I could make them myself :) And I still feel very shy when I take one of the girls outside to take pictures, but what helps me is knowing that I will never see those nosy, narrow-minded people again. Oh, and I try to act like 'just a serious photographer who's doing her job', LOL! But I noticed it makes a lot of difference when a friend joins me! I feel a lot braver then ^^ xoxo, Zozo

I'm in love with your Blythe dolls! I really want to change my LL Blythe's eye-chips, but I know I'm going to ruin her, and I don't have a clue how to do it! Also, why do you have to use oil-free products on Blythe? Many thanks.
Hi Deana, thanks so much! :) I hope my tutorials on changing eyechips with the glue-stick method (see Customize > Eyes) will guide you through the process. And cosmetic oil will damage the plastic of the doll's face over time! So it's highly recommended to only use oil-free products. xoxo, Zozo

By the way thanks for your tips to customize hope everything will go fine. Thanks... love your girls and your site!
Hi Nat! I'm glad you like the site, and good luck with customizing your first girl! Sam's jeans are originally from Takeru, a JUN Planning (the maker of Pullip) Class Mate doll. Sometimes you'll find his outfit on eBay. My girls say "Hi!", too :) xoxo, Zozo

Hoi zozolala!

where can i buy these dolls from??! i went to winchester school of art for an intro day yesterday and a girl had based her whole project on these dolls, im in love with them, where can i buy one? xxx
Hi! The easiest way to find a Blythe is on eBay. You could also try online stores like DOLLs.jp, or register at the This Is Blythe forum, and check their Buy & Sell section. Good luck finding your girl! xoxo Zozo

Hi, I'm in love with your girls and house, I have two girlies and they're wondering, did you buy the leopard print lounger or did you make it yourself? If you made it, could you give me a few hints? Thanks, Gemma, Blythe and Mimi xxx
Hi Gemma, thanks so much!
The leopard fainting couch is actually a jewelry box/trinket, and I found it on eBay. It's the perfect size :) My girls say "Hi!" to yours! xoxo, Zozo

Hi! I know you've heard this 1000 times but I am drooling over your house... Would you mind emailing me about the toilet and sink in the bathroom? Where did you get them? Thanks so much, you are an inspiration to us all!
Thank you for your sweet compliments ^^
I found the blue toilet and sink on eBay.. they're vintage Sindy furniture, and they show up on there every now and then. Good luck! xoxo, Zozo

What an amazing dollhouse! I'd like to know where you got your furnishings, especially the bathroom and kitchen things. And the beds! Did you make the beds?
Thank you! Most of the furniture comes from eBay. I've searched for specific things, like vintage Barbie bunk beds. The bath tub is My Scene (I think), and the basin and toilet are vintage Sindy's. For the kitchen ware and food you should check out Re-ment miniatures! They're awesome. xoxo, Zozo

Zozo, I'm just curious about some of the backgrounds you use for your photos. How do you get the simple single colors? Is it a backdrop of some sort or is it a camera trick. (Example: The recent picture of all of the girls on the leopard lounge chair with Spike.) Thanks. Elise - Blythe Freak
Hi Elise! The background you see in the family picture is my yellow livingroom wall :) but for most other pictures (like the auction pics) I put up a sheet of wallpaper, or a piece of white hardboard. xoxo, Zozo

Thanks for the great instructions and measurements for the house, I'm in the process of altering it for Pullips. Your dolls are gorgeous and you have a wonderful sense of style! I'd love tutorial information on the bed in what I'm assuming is Sam's room? The blue bedroom... is the chalkboard next to it a closet? The red bedroom is also so fab!
Thank you for all the sweet compliments ^^
I didn't make the beds, but found them on eBay.. they're all vintage, wooden Barbie beds that I restored and painted. Yes, the chalkboard is a closet :) I painted the door with chalkboard paint! xoxo, Zozo

Hello (: I just adore your house! Wasn't it expensive? I'm waiting for my first pullip to come, and I have already found a place for her house. How long did it take? You should be very proud of your house ^^ //Alanaia<3
Aww, thank you Alanaia! The house itself, and the wallpaper and carpet and such wasn't that expensive, I tried to use simple and cheap things like wrapping paper and pieces of fabrics, felt, towels, placemats. But decorating it with all the furniture and tiny stuff.. yeah, it adds up ;) I'm always on the prowl to find cute gadgets in dollar stores and antique stores, and I spent hours searching for vintage furniture at eBay. It took about um.. 8 months to finish it completely - but I wasn't in a hurry. I started with just one room, and added more on the way. I hope your Pullip will be with you soon, and good luck with your house! xoxo, Zozo

Hi Again, I'm making my girls an apartment totally inspired by you. Just wanted to ask did you make your own bunk beds for the dolls? or did you purchase them already made, if so who makes them? Thanks again.
Hi! The wooden bunk beds with closets are vintage Barbie beds ('70), and the brown one is handmade. I found them on eBay, and they all came from Germany. They show up every now and then. Good luck finding yours! xoxo, Zozo

Wow.. learning Dutch seems to be very hard - especially the 'g' (good for a sore throat). And 'dankjewel' for your sweet comments on my girls and the clothes I make. I tought myself how to sew from pattern books, and I'm finally getting the hang of it :D xoxo, Zozo

Little soldiers of Good and Evil". xoxo, Zozo

Hi Elaine, thanks so much! No, sadly you can't buy Blythe dolls in Holland (yet), so I got mine off eBay or Yahoo!Japan. Maybe you can search, or ask around in the This Is Blythe forum? There often are members selling their dolls or customs in the Buy & Sell section. Success!

I LOVE your website and all of your amazing fashion creations. I assume you have dyed the hair color of your current Blythe model on Ebay (dark hair with red highlights). How did you do that? Do you just use regular hair dye?
Hi Elise, thank you! My model Milo is wearing different wigs in the auctions. I purchased them at ChaCha_b (the one you are referring to is wig S3). It is possible to dye Blythes hair though, but not with regular hair dye - for dolls hair is made of plastic. You can use RIT or Dylon. More about hair dying at Puchimadam's tutorial. I think you can make highlights by wrapping a few strands in kitchen foil, or with hair extensions using the "punch" method. More about that here. Success!
